As football clubs across the Northern Territory rely on passionate volunteers to keep the game running, Mindil Aces FC has been recognised for going above and beyond, earning May’s Club Changer Club of the Month title.

Announced during National Volunteer Week, the recognition shines a spotlight on the club’s strong commitment to workforce development and volunteer support, acknowledging the people behind the scenes who make grassroots football possible every weekend.

Mindil Aces FC, a proud two-star accredited club through the Club Changer Program, has set a benchmark for volunteer management in Territory football. The club has embraced the Club Changer framework to build a supportive, organised and welcoming environment for coaches, team managers and committee members.

From mentoring new coaches to creating clear volunteer recruitment pathways, the club is focused on building confidence, skills and long-term participation among its volunteer workforce.

Club Changer is a national initiative designed to help sporting clubs strengthen governance, inclusion, safeguarding and volunteer engagement. Each month, the program highlights clubs making a positive impact in a key focus area.

May’s focus on workforce and volunteering recognised the essential contribution volunteers make to local sport, particularly in regional and community settings where clubs often depend on dedicated individuals giving their time freely.

Mindil Aces FC’s recognition reflects the club’s commitment to empowering its football community and creating an environment where volunteers feel supported and valued.

Football in the Territory would not be possible without the efforts of volunteers who step up each week to coach, manage teams, coordinate events and support players of all ages.

With June’s national Club Changer focus turning to safeguarding, clubs across the Northern Territory are being encouraged to get involved in the program and continue strengthening the future of community sport.
